Makara, the mountain goat
Makara is the sea-goat of the old pictures, and Saturn rules it. Work that takes years. The tenth sign of the natural order.
Saturn rules Makara. The natural tenth sign is this one, so vocation, public standing, and the long slope of a working life are the topics. Saturn's reputation for delay is half the popular fear of this lagna. Delay, when it is real on a chart, is read from Saturn's house and from the dasha, not from the animal.
Makara Sankranti is the Sun's entry into this sidereal sign, and it is a festival with regional names and foods that this page will not flatten into one menu. The ingress is an astronomical event the engine can time. The til and the pongal are a household's own.
Climbing is a metaphor people enjoy. Your knees are not in the ephemeris. Plan the trek with a map.
