Pushya, the star a grandmother trusts
Pushya is the nourishing mansion. Brihaspati is the deity in the common table. It is the star most often waved through for a good beginning.

Ask for an auspicious nakshatra in a hurry and a tired elder will say Pushya, if it is anywhere near. The deity in the standard list is Brihaspati, the priest of the gods, and the image is nourishment: milk, a full pot, a child fed. Buying gold, starting a course, signing a lease that you actually want, all collect here.
Even Pushya does not cancel Rahu kalam, a rikta tithi, or a vara the particular ceremony dislikes. The five limbs are a committee. One popular member does not outvote the rest. The muhurtham page on this site scores the day from those limbs rather than from the fame of a single name.
Pushya as a birth star is common, because the Moon spends about a day in each mansion and people are born every day. Common is not lucky as a fate. It is common.
