Shravana, the hearing

Shravana is hearing. Vishnu is the deity in the usual list. Learning, listening, and the day of many Onam and Shravan observances.

Three footprints is the old symbol, and hearing is the name. Vishnu is the deity the columns print. In Kerala the star is Thiruvonam, and the festival that carries that name is a month and a solar event as well as a nakshatra. Do not collapse Onam into every day the Moon visits Shravana. The visit happens every month. The festival does not.

Learning sits easily here: a first lesson, a teacher met, an oral tradition actually listened to. Pocket Pandit's own rule about evidence belongs, in spirit, to a star of hearing. If we did not hear it in a source we can name, we do not recite it as authority.

That rule applies to Shravana too. The deity column is standard jyotisha. A miracle story attached to your birth in this star is not, unless you brought the story from your family and labelled it as yours.
