Swati, the star that moves by itself

Swati is Arcturus to the West and Vayu's mansion in the Indian table. A young plant that bends and does not break.

The picture teachers draw is a young shoot in the wind. Vayu is the deity. Independence is the temper people claim for it, and like every temper claimed for a nakshatra it is a folk reading laid over a coordinate. The coordinate is solid. The folk reading is a reading.

Swati is often acceptable for travel and for trade, and some lists are cooler about it for the lighting of a permanent sacred fire. Your family's list may differ from the one in a north Indian muhurta book. When Pocket Pandit has a rule, it will name the rule's kind: a common custom, or a textual preference it can actually point at. It will not pretend every regional habit is in the Vedas.

Self-reliance is a practice. A star does not install it.
